Threats, Intimidation and Censorship

Untitled-1Every so often, especially in Horry County, threats and intimidation are used in attempts at censorship of the press.

You be the judge if the following qualifies.

For those of you wondering what happened to the story about Mark Lazarus and the Good Ole Boys the following e-mail string between Wrenzie Rice and myself should be self explanatory.

Comment: Paul, that is not my IP address (or that of any Rice family member) and we did not make that comment. I have called the capitol police and will have them investigate this. I will also hire a lawyer and prosecute you for harrassment and defamation. Remove that ridiculous post immediately and state that it is untrue or I will follow up with my plans. I will not tolerate this. Wrenzie

Taking you at your word that no one in the Rice family made the comment. Took the entire post and comment string down.

Offering you the opportunity to author a post saying anything you wish and I guarantee I will post it unedited, except for any verbiage that others might find offensive.

I want you to post on your page that it was a lie and you apologize. I have printed out the comments for my records and if this ever happens again, I assure you that i will hire a lawyer. Im not interested in posting on your website.

I have given you the opportunity to answer. I don’t know that it was a lie except on your say so. I removed the post and the comment string since it seemed to offend you. That is as far as I’m prepared to go. If that is not sufficient, you must take whatever course you deem proper.

You are the person that posted it was from our IP address. That was an outright lie. People are referencing your post all over the Internet.. I will call my lawyer tomorrow.

Paul, if you are so adamant about freedom of expression, why would you attempt to call out someone by name to begin with? Seems to me you are the one trying to intimidate people by trying to convince people you know who they are by their ISP address. Way to go Wrenzie for calling him out. There’s a big difference in freedom of speech and libel.

  • Recently I was planning to de-activate my “SC7: Stop Tom Rice in ’14
(or sooner?)” FB Page, and a couple of similar ones, as well as
oppo-Rice Twitter accounts. When I attempted to tell one of Rice’s aids
about that via FB message and sent him a friend request, I was
immediately flagged and blocked from adding new friends for 30 days, and
also flag-spammed on Facebook. Now the new round of overt hostility and
attempts at information control from Wrenzie Rice has prompted me to
ramp it up again. And the beat goes on.
