Through the years, Larry Bratcher has helped many friends and organizations in and around his native Conway.
One of his higher profile activities has been cooking and feeding the Conway High School football team members every Friday night before a game. He is a past president of the Conway High School Booster Club, Conway Kiwanis Club and Coastal Carolinas Association of Realtors, to name a few.
Coach Chuck Jordan said Bratcher has been one of those guys who has always been available when needed through the years, never asking for anything in return.
Now Bratcher needs the help of his friends.
Over the last several years, Bratcher has been suffering from declining health associated with lung problems to the point that he is now totally disabled and has been unable to work for some time.
Local doctors have reached the end of their options recommending Bratcher travel to the Cleveland Clinic where doctors there have been doing groundbreaking work on lung diseases.
Bratcher and his wife are scheduled to travel to Cleveland June 6, 2016 for an evaluation of Bratcher’s condition. It is expected a double lung transplant will be necessary in the near future.
A group going by the name “Friends of Larry Bratcher” is raising funds to help offset costs associated with the trip to Cleveland and expected long recovery period during which the Bratchers will have to remain in the Cleveland area.
The “Friends” are seeking donations from the public to help Bratcher and his wife offset these associated costs.
